About this information. Insurance information for Georgia is compiled from the published lists of accepted plans of each practice or health system, as of November 1, 2026. A health system's list does not guarantee that every clinician or office takes every product a plan sells. Networks change. Confirm with the practice and your insurer before booking.

How insurance networks work in Georgia

One insurer can sell employer plans, marketplace plans through Georgia Access, Medicaid plans and Medicare Advantage plans, and each product can have its own network. Hospital and physician groups often list a carrier but exclude some of its narrow-network products, so an office that takes one Anthem or Ambetter plan may not take another.

Before you book, call the office with the exact plan name and member ID on your card, and check your insurer's provider directory or member services line.

Frequently asked questions

How do I confirm an OB/GYN in Georgia is in network with my plan?

Call the office with the exact name of your plan and your member ID, and ask whether the specific clinician you want to see participates. Then check the insurer's online provider directory or call the member services number on your card. One insurer can sell employer, marketplace, Medicaid and Medicare Advantage plans in Georgia, each with its own network, and health system lists often exclude some narrow-network products, so the company name alone is not enough.

How does Georgia Medicaid managed care work?

Many Georgia Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids members get their care through a care management organization (CMO) in the Georgia Families program. The Georgia Medicaid website lists three CMOs: Amerigroup Community Care, CareSource and Peach State Health Plan. Each CMO has its own provider network, so an OB/GYN who takes one may not take another. Use an OB/GYN in your CMO's network, and confirm with the office or the member services number on your card.

What is Georgia Access?

Georgia Access is Georgia's state-based health insurance marketplace for individual and family plans. It replaced HealthCare.gov for Georgians and became the official marketplace on November 1, 2024, starting with 2025 coverage. Marketplace plans often have narrower networks than the same company's employer plans, so give the office the exact plan or network name on your card.

Do I need a referral to see an OB/GYN in Georgia?

Usually not for routine women's health care. Under federal rules, most health plans that ask you to choose a primary care provider cannot require a referral or prior approval to see an in-network OB/GYN. Other specialists, tests or procedures may still need a referral or prior authorization, and some coverage, such as TRICARE Prime, has its own referral rules. Check your plan documents.

Am I protected from surprise medical bills in Georgia?

Often, yes. Georgia's Surprise Billing Consumer Protection Act, in effect since January 1, 2021, and the federal No Surprises Act protect patients from many surprise out-of-network bills, such as most emergency care and care from an out-of-network provider at an in-network hospital or surgery center. In those cases you usually owe only your in-network cost-sharing. Which law applies depends on your plan, so ask your insurer about any unexpected bill.

Why is a practice I know not listed?

This directory lists a practice under a plan only when a published source shows it participates. Many practices accept plans we could not verify. If you are a practice, claim your free listing to add your plans.
